PCI Overview

The PCI organization as part of Product Creation Capability in ICM is supporting approximately 12000 engineers involved in Nokia R&D. The organization is split into teams located in the various R&D locations world-wide. The PCC and PCI organizations targets are set in cooperation with R&D management to complement R&D targets. Services provided by PCI are highly focused on R&D.

In close cooperation with the teams from PCC, PCI teams are creating, deploying, managing, operating and maintaining customized services for the engineering design processes like SW, mechanics and EDA, including external collaboration partners. The PCI services are tailored directly to R&D to ensure reliability, agility and flexibility of the critical IT services for R&D productivity. The main goal of PCC and PCI is to improve R&D efficiency through R&D IT services and it is the close proximity to the customer and constant innovation of solutions including organization, services, tools and processes that enables PCI to do this.

PCC and PCI are required by the business to have end to end responsibility for the R&D IT services regardless of the actual service provider delivering a service component, e.g. LANWAN connectivity.

PCI drives for R&D excellence by technical innovation and performance improvements with global cost optimization.

Main Responsibility Area

We are looking for an experienced database administrator with a blend of technical and functional skills with MS SQL (mandatory), Oracle andor MySQL as addition. The database administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, administering, and monitoring enterprise databases environments. Typical responsibilities would include:

- Designing and implementing techniques to optimize information access andor system performance;

- Providing quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data

- Installing and testing new versions of MS SQL, Oracle andor MySQL

- Working directly with end-users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage

- Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection required level

- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures

- Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly

- Performing capacity planning

- Working closely with project managers, programmers and web developers

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or equivalent

34 years experience as an DBA in enterprise environment installing, configuring, maintaining MS SQL (mandatory)

Hands-on createadmin experience from MySQL andor Oracle are a plus

34 years experience performing database configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, and patch administration

Ability to work closely with R&D engineers to understand requirements and implement the needed solutions

Knowledge of backup and recovery operations over all databases, ensuring 100% recoverability

Experience with triggers, indexing, and stored procedures

Extensive experience monitoring and analyzing database growth patterns, sizing and space management, and be able to make recommendations

Demonstrable ability to proactively identify, make recommendations and resolve database issues

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills (oral and written)

Sound judgment, problem-solving and decision making abilities

Strong team skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrated ability to follow through on assigned tasks under tight dead-lines
