Back in April 2011, Stephen Elop Nokias CEO announced that China has become its Global Innovation hub for Mobile Phones and Smart Devices (New Windows Phone). Following the announcement, Nokia quickly launched a large-scale business transformation program to ramp up Beijing R&D capabilities, specifically the Beijing innovation R&D hub and is now recruiting up to 600 new employees by mid-2012.

What Are We Looking For?

(Senior) Software Architect

We are looking for outstanding employees to join us as full-time (Senior) Software Architect. Successful candidates will have developed high-performance, stable software that has been successfully deployed in a global product. You will have a system-wide, architectural view of the solutions that you build. You will also have strong technical ability, a focus on the customer experience, great teamwork and communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

You will work as part of an exceptional team at our development center in Beijing, China, launching and growing new products for Nokias Mobile Phones business. You will play a key contributor role in your team - as they will look to you for advice on the mobile technology. You will be a pivotal team player and able to deploy your initiatives, giving you the responsibility and authority to ensure success. You will be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to software development across a variety of technologies. Your software will need to meet remarkably high standards of performance and reliability, and will operate a global scale.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

-Leads design and architecture in S40 EVO Java platform

-Creates andor approves designs for FPD software

-Solves difficult technical problems

-Acts as rapid prototyping developer in pre-concepting

-Acts as lead developer in projects when needed

-Acts as the most senior technical person in the team to provide technical leadership, support, and coaching

-Interfaces with technical architects in internal Nokia organizations and external partners

-Represents technical expertise in business decision making

Qualifications

-An undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a reputable university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or other relevant fields.

-At least 10 years experience in software industry, out of which at least 3 years hands-on experience in J2ME platform (VMAMSAPIs) .

-Approvedwell-known expert knowledge on J2ME VMAMSAPIs system architecture and development

-Deep understanding in RTOS, such as memory management, process or task schedulecommunication, timer, system performance and so on.

-Master both Java and C++C languages programing and advanced coding techniques (e.g. multi-tasking, synchronismasynchronism, memory optimization, fault tolerance, network)

-Strong, hands-on knowledge in object-oriented or procedure design

-Hands-on Java development tools (e.g. eclipse, netbeans, java SDK tools)

-Strong analytical and excellent problem solving skills

-Technical governance and strong technical impaction on team

-Results oriented with strong sense of ownership and passion for writing world-class software

-Highly innovative, flexible and self-directed, but also a cooperative team player

-Experienced with software engineering practices including AGILE methodologies, unit testing, refactoring, source control management, continuous integration and build processes

-Strong written and verbal English communications skills
